Hinges

Locker hinges impact the function, strength and reliability of locker doors, they also affect the overall security of lockers. Choosing a hinge type is highly dependent on durability requirements as hinges vary based on construction and metal thickness.

5 Knuckle Hinge: Full loop, tight-pin construction is formed of 14-gauge steel to provide a powerful hinge option. Hinge is either welded or riveted to both the door and frame, available for most locker styles and considered the industry standard hinge.

Piano Hinge: (Or continuous hinges) are crafted from heavy-duty, 16-gauge steel and are securely welded to the locker frame, this low-maintenance hinge runs the entire length of the door for extreme strength and durability.

Handles

Locker handles are crucial to the operation and security of your locker, choosing the right locker handle also depends on the type of latching you desire as not all handles offer the same latching abilities or key compatibilities. Strength of handles, appearance and maintenance needs are also factors in selecting a locker handle.

Recessed Handle: Recessed handles are deeply recessed, stainless steel pockets that provide a flush, catch-free surface that helps to keep scratches off the face of lockers and makes recessed handles the most popular handle-type. Recessed handles have a multi-point latch mechanism with a simple, lift-style operation that offers padlock or built-in lock compatibility.

Protruding Handle: Constructed with heavy-duty, chrome plated zinc alloy that operates with pull-out function and consists of a single moving part. Allows for automatic, multi-point latching upon door closure without using a lock.

Friction Catch Pull Tab: A steel plate mounted to the inside of locker door with a projecting padlock hasp to form a single-point locking mechanism. Offers the option of built-in lock or padlocks to allow opening and closing function.

Pull Tab Handle: Easy-to-use pull protruding handles are equipped with a built-in or padlock loop for optional security. Handle operates easily by finger pull without any moving parts for low-maintenance use. Available only for box locker styles.

Cremone Multi-Point Handle: Ultra-strong, turn handles designed for high-security use with heavy-duty, all-welded or stadium gear lockers. These protruding steel handles operate with a secure, three-point locking system. Consists of 2 steel lock rods connected to locker frame. 3/8" rod engages top and bottom frame, 1/8" center bracket secures door to frame.

Door Types

When selecting a locker door type, choosing the right gauge of steel for a given environment is necessary to ensure sufficient durability. Locker doors are available with a solid exterior, perforations or louvers, which depend on needs for visibility and air circulation.

Solid Doors: A smooth, solid exterior without louvers. This door type assists in noise alleviation and quiet function. Construction is composed of 16-gauge or 14-gauge steel that is available for all locker styles.

Standard Louvers: Ventilation slots are located at the top and bottom of door frame to allow for daily ventilation. For multi-tier lockers, slots are located in the center of the door.

Full Louvers: Top to bottom ventilation slots run the full length of the locker and allow air to circulate while keeping contents concealed. Available for doors of any metal gauge.

Mini Louvers: Smaller than our standard louvers that measure at 5/8" wide x 1/4" high while still providing a high levels of ventilation while shielding locker contents from sight. Available for all locker styles.

Diamond Perforated: Diamond-shaped perforations are ideal for locker rooms to significantly improve air flow and allow visibility of locker contents. These measure at 3/4" W x 1-1/2" H. Available for all door types.

Visual Perforation: Our standard, rectangular perforations offer visual security of locker compartments and supply adequate ventilation for many different environments. Perforations measure 5/8" wide x 1 1/8" high.

Custom Design: Doors are punched with personalized, visual perforations that are requested in a unique shape or pattern. Allows for visual inspection and air circulation. Available for doors of 16-gauge or 18-gauge steel.

Locker Tiers/Configuration Options

Locker "tiers" refer to the number of doors or compartments within the space of a vertical locker column. Tiers are chosen based on the space requirements of a facility and/or the user's individual storage needs. Lockers with less tiers will have more roomy compartments with expanded space for hanging. Columns with many tiers or multi-tier/box lockers, will have cubby-size compartments to serve compact storage needs. The number of tiers also affects available options for handle/latch types. Four tier lockers and above require a friction-catch door pull while single to triple tier lockers are compatible with most handle types.

Single Tier: Consists of one, full length compartment with a single door. This roomy locker style offers ample hanging space for clothing with a convenient upper shelf and interior hooks. Custom shelves can also be added for greater organization. Single tier lockers with 18" or deeper compartments will also include coat rods.

Double Tier: Designed to service double the users within the floor space of a single locker column. Each column features top and bottom compartments of equal size. Double tier styles provide individual storage for two people, can alternatively be used by a single user when utilizing the compartment divider as a shelf. Custom shelves can also be added if desired. Double tier includes multiple interior hooks with plenty of hanging space.

Triple Tier: Multi-tier style that offers three compartments while using the floor space of a single locker column. Each compartment includes multiple interior hooks. Triple tier can accommodate at least one extra shelf if desired.

Four Tier: Multi-tier style with four box compartments within the space of a single locker column. Doors can be secured with padlocks or built-in lock types.

Five Tier: Multi-tier style with five box compartments within the space of a single locker column. Doors can be secured with padlocks or built-in lock types.

Six Tier: Multi-tier style with six box compartments within the space of a single locker column. Doors can be secured with padlocks or built-in lock types.

7,8 9 & 10 Tier: High-density storage solution for complete maximization of floor space. Multi-tier styles with compact-size box compartments for small or temporary storage needs.

Latches

Locker latches are the most important component in determining locker security. Specific latching also depends on the type of handle you choose so it is necessary to make sure your handle is compatible with the latching you require. Latch types vary based on the number of contact points that they make with the door. The more latch points, the higher security as these types will be harder to pry open than a single latch. Some locker styles require a certain latch type so it is essential to make the right locker selection when considering latch security.

Automatic Multi-Point Latch: Enables the door to be securely shut without locking. These latches offer noise reduction with the addition of nylon glides and latch hooks fixed with rubber bumpers. Available for all models excluding box lockers, single-point doors and cremone handles.

Spring Loaded Positive Latch: Allows closure to automatically secure. When the latch button is pressed, the door may be opened. A hole in the latch button allows for the insertion of a padlock to provide greater security.

Cremone Latch:: Features a three-point locking mechanism that interacts with the door through the movement of three steel "lock rods" connected to locker frame at the top, middle and bottom of frame while the cam simultaneously interacts with the door jamb.

Friction Catch Door Pull: Used primarily in box lockers, the friction catch door pull is a single-point latching option that uses friction to keep the door closed even when it is unlocked. The pull-tab handle features a padlock loop for use with an external padlock.

Single Point Latch: Used primarily for multi-tier lockers, the friction catch door pull is a single-point latching option that uses friction to keep the door closed even when it is unlocked. The pull-tab handle features a padlock loop for use with an external padlock.

Top Options

Locker tops determine maintenance needs and also alter the appearance of lockers. Lockers with flat top hoods are subject to dust and dirt build-up and require occasional cleaning. Additionally, flat tops can become damaged over time from items being stored on them. The angled style of a slope top eliminates storage on locker tops and won't require cleaning. For current flat top lockers, we provide kits for converting of 3-wide locker groupings or a continuous sloped hoods for converting longer rows of lockers. Lockers can also be ordered as unit slope hoods and won't require conversion.

Flat Top: Lockers will come standard with flat tops unless otherwise specified. This option provides an additional storage space with a flat, level surface. Flat tops are a lower-cost option and are preferred for specific styles such as kids lockers.

Slope Top Kit: Used for converting standard flat tops into slope tops. Kits include all parts necessary for converting a group of 1-wide or 3-wide lockers. Slope tops discourage storage on locker tops and prevent debris and dust accumulation on hoods.

Unit Slope Top: A single locker column with a fixed sloped hood. These tops have sides with mitered top ends that rise at 1/3" of the locker depth. The angled top discourages storage on tops and eliminates the need for cleaning dust and debris.

Continuous Sloped Hood: Locker hood panel that measures 72" long. Panel is secured over a row of flat top lockers and is cut to length during installation. Requires intermediate splices, ends and rear supports, to be ordered separately.

Base Options

When choosing a locker base option, appearance and ground clearance are two factors to keep in mind. Lockers without a base will require occasional cleaning underneath while no legs or a closed base prevents dust and debris from becoming trapped. Bases are also helpful in the case of a flood and ensures protection from water damage. Bases are available for most lockers. Some styles such as all-welded lockers, will require sturdier bases such as channel bases.

Individual Closed Base: Fits flush against 6" locker legs to keep debris from becoming trapped underneath. The front base piece snaps in during installation and the end base is fitted over locker legs during either the assembly or installation processes.

Zee Base: Offers a continuous, closed metal base that raises lockers 4" off the floor. Z-bases are anchored into the floor to provide a powerful support for lockers as well as a toe kick plate. 6" bases are also available.

Channel Base (All-Welded): Used only with all-welded or heavy-duty lockers. Includes 14-gauge structural channels that are welded to the front, rear and vertical side panels to enforce rigid stability. These bases fit flush against the locker and are available in 4" or 6".

Zee Inside Corner Splice: Used to securely connect two runs of zee base that meet at a right angle. This piece is necessary for achieving a seamless base transition when lockers meet in a corner.

Zee End Base/Splice: Serves as both a lean finished end for the zee base and as piece for splicing together 2 front zee bases. This piece fits flush against the locker sides, is anchored to the ground and bolted to the front zee base pieces.

No Legs: Lockers without legs eliminate the potential for dust and dirt accumulating underneath locker bottoms. While no base in necessary, it is recommended to use a 4" wood base, concrete base, or metal zee base (see info on zee base below). All locker models are available without the addition of legs.

Legs: Supports locker columns for a free-standing option that requires foot anchoring for recommended safety and stability. Our Signature, Ventilated, Kids, Heavy-Duty and Athletic Series all come standard with 6" legs but can also be ordered without legs. For industry requirements such as packing house lockers or unique specifications, we also offer custom legs in various heights.

Filler Options

Locker fillers are used to close any gaps or unused space between locker units to provide a solid, more unified appearance. When installations run into challenges with obstructions such as columns, pipes or corners where another locker will not fit, space restrictions may leave vertical gaps or voids in corners. In these cases, fillers offer the perfect solution, these are cut on-site and finished to match lockers for a seamless fit. Fillers also help to stop the build-up of dirt and dust from accumulating in these areas

Vertical Filler: Used to fill any vertical space left between in-line lockers for a flush, finished look that also prevents dirt and dust from collecting in cracks. Vertical fillers come in three different widths and as part of the installation process, vertical fillers are cut on-site to match the exact width of the gap being filled. Fillers wider than 2" should be used in conjunction with angle slip joints.

Wall Angle Slip Joint:Used to cover the cut edge of a vertical filler for a sleek finish. Used in conjunction with vertical fillers and can fill gaps of up to 18". The slip joint is fastened to the wall and then attached to the vertical fillers during installation.

Flat Corner Filler: Added to close the corner space where two rows of flat top lockers that meet in an inside corner. These fillers help to create a smooth, continuous appearance and unify flat top locker rows.

Filler, Slope Top Corner: Eliminates corner gaps between slope top lockers that meet in a corner. These angled corner pieces attach onto the current sloped hoods and also prevent dust and debris from falling in between lockers.

Filler, Slope Top: Sloped in-line fillers are used to bridge the gap between unit-slope top lockers when vertical fillers are used. These angled fillers can be cut to size and provide a clean, continuous look for rows of slope top lockers.

Flat in Line Filler: Attached to the tops of existing flat top lockers to provide a fully finished look after vertical fillers have been installed. These fillers are available in 12", 15" or 18" and can be cut to size.

Universal Hood Support: Supports the back of continuous sloped hoods. These support pieces are bent to size which allows them to fit all locker depths. Hood supports provide additional strength to locker hoods to help prevent collapse.

End Panel

Locker end panels are helpful in enhancing the appearance of your installation but are not necessary for function. A finished end panel is added to the end locker(s) on a single or double row to cover unsightly locker seams or punched holes left from the manufacturing process. These solid panels are cut to size and are finished in a matching powder coat for a seamless look. Finished end panels also increase the material thickness, adding strength and durability to the end of each row. Alternatively, exposed locker panels offer a more budget-friendly option that are better suited to applications less concerned with appearance.

Exposed Sloped End Panel: are the result of a completed row of sloped lockers without the addition of a finished end panel to hide holes or trim. With continuous sloped hoods, a small, triangular filler is used to cover the gap between the locker tops and the sloped hoods.

Sloped Finished End Panel: A sloped finished end panel is used for creating a smooth, completed look for sloped locker installations. An angled panel formed of 24-gauge sheet metal is matched in color, cut to size and attached to the end locker.

Exposed End Panel: for flat top lockers displays unfinished siding on the last locker of a single row that allows small holes or locker seams to remain visible.

Finished End Panel: A flat finished end panel is a decorative metal piece that is easily fastened to the last locker at the end of a single row of flat top lockers.

Exposed Double Sloped End Panel: allow the raw locker siding to remain visible on the last two sloped lockers on a double-row.

Double Sloped Finished End Panel : This finished end panel is fitted for a set of sloped double row lockers and attaches to the ends of both lockers to cover both exposed panels with a single piece of finished steel.

Exposed Double Row End Panel: show the visible ends of two flat top lockers at the end of a double row.

Double Row Finished End Panel: are added to the last two end lockers at the end of a double row and are sized and finished to cover both flat top lockers.

Trim Options

Locker trim, also referred to as recessed trim, are used to fill in 1" to 2"gaps that are left behind when lockers are installed to the wall or soffit. Top and side trim pieces are 3" wide and are added to ensure a smooth, polished installation.

Top Trim: Pieces that are attached to the locker tops with a trim clip and used to fill any horizontal space that is left between the wall opening and locker tops.

Side Trim: Consists of both left and right side trim pieces, side trim is bolted to the sides of the lockers and fits tightly against the soffit.

Trim Clip: Secures the top trim in place and is bolted to the top of lockers. Notches in the clip are used to clamp the trim in place.

Paint Options

Determining the right paint option for your locker will be helpful in lowering maintenance needs and will ensure long-term protection of the exterior. Facilities that are prone to vandalism, harsh elements or simply want to minimize cosmetic damage, will benefit from our many rigid powder coat options. Special requests for custom colors and special finishes for steel are also available.
